“Nosedive” is an episode of the British science fiction series Black Mirror. This episode takes
place in an alternate world. Some stars in it are kinda known, but the most famous star in it
is Bryce Dallas Howard, the actress that plays the main character.
The plot is based on a world where people can rate each other, which can impact their
socioeconomic status. The story revolves around Lacie, a young woman obsessed with her
ratings, that finds out a way to elevate them and move into her dream house, after being
chosen by her childhood friend as the maid of honor for her wedding. Her obsession leads to
several obstacles on her journey to the wedding that ends with a drastic reduction in her
ratings.
The things that I find are the most enjoyable about this episode are the writing of the script
and the performance of the actors.
Also, I really like the meaning of the episode and the relation with the title. And I like how this
episode shows you that If we weren’t so obsessed with how people see us on social media,
we would enjoy life more.
The only fault that I can find is that the episode started really slow for me. Also, If the director
had developed more into different stories within that alternate world, I would have enjoyed
the episode more.
In conclusion, I really enjoyed this episode, and it’s storyline and even though I said that it
may seemed kinda slow, the episode holds the spectator’s attention until the end. So If you
like this kind of TV shows, you should watch this episode.
