It’s about the future, a society that can qualify the other persons and all the things that you can do depends on your grade. Lacie Pound is our main character on this episode, she is a girl that is totally obsessed in her rating, because all depends on her. For example: If you have 4.5 stars, you’ll be able to go to the cinema. At the start of the episode they show us a Lacie that wants to move away from the flat that she shares with her brother and go to Pelican Cove, it seems to be like a Beverly Hills there. One day when she returns to the lat with her brother, her best friend of childhood phone her because she will marry in a month and she wants that Lacie becomes to her maid of honor, she said to Lacie: If you are free in a month, you will be my maid of honor. The wedding is tomorrow and Lacie goes to the airport to take a fly, but unfortunately the last fly has been canceled, and she did Auto-Stop and things like that for arrive at the wedding, meanwhile she is searching the form to arrive, she’s rating is nosediving and a woman called Susan stop with her track, she’s 1.423. Susan talks to Lacie all her life, once she was a 4.6 but her husband died thanks to his rating and in that point she decided to fuck off all their style of life and start to say what she wants when she wants. Having reached this point, Lacie arrives to the wedding and she did her marvelous speech and she ends the wedding being arrested. In the prison she starts talking with a black men, when she at the final of the episode discovers: If you don’t follow this type of society, you will be happy.
One of the most enjoyable things in this episode is the characterization of all the characters, there are two types of character the obssesed ones {Lacie (1st Part), Naomi, Paul,...} and the apathetic ones { Lacie (2nd Part), Susan, Ryan,...}
The only fault I can find is that the film is rather too long. Maybe it’s too long the time that pass before the wedding and the start of the wedding.
I recommend this episode, but for people older than 15 years, because it’s very dark sometimes. But I love this episode because represents our society of nowadays, and one of our possibles futures.
