My grandfather, Jacinto Romano, has always been a very influential person in my life.
He was born on July 17th, 1936, the same exact day the Spanish Civil War started, in a small town in Toledo. His parents didn’t have a lot of money, so he dropped out of school to help his family make ends meet.
After working 6 years in a small farm, he went to France and stayed there working for 2 years. When he was 20, he moved to Barcelona with his older brother and they both started a family there. Eventually, he opened a store which made him gain reputation in his neighborhood and became a very loved person.
He passed away last summer, but he is still a very important person in my life as he has always been by my side and proud of me no matter what. He used to bring the best out of people and, he always had a smile on his face regarding all the bad things that had happened to him. That is why he was, is, and will be, my role model.
